Second Sunday of Advent, Year B
This week we reflect on “The Adoration of the Infant at Birth Shepherds” by Hugo Van Der Goes circa 1475. It is currently on display in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy. Mary and Joseph appear humbly and even though Mary is central in the scene with Jesus, her posture and gestures are equal to all present. A lively painting with intricate detail and colours of royalty. A very realistic painting immersed in symbolism and story.
