Our Vision
The vision of OYA is shaped by out motto- “Through the eyes of Christ we see the world”.
The motto reminds us that our challenge, like the community at Pentecost, is to look beyond ourselves. Our vision must be Christ’s vision. The way we approach all things must be the way Christ would.
History
It is hard to say exactly how Oblate Youth Australia (OYA) and all its facets have come to be. It seems that from small seeds of inspiration and hope, the elements which comprise OYA have all simply fallen into place and OYA has grown, thanks to God and the courage and faith of many young people throughout Australia.
Structure
Many young people in our community live the Oblate Charism, OYA Membership is an opportunity to name and celebrate this reality. It places a responsibility on both the Oblates and Young people to participate in mutual formation in the Oblate Charism and exploring of the way to live this reality in our contemporary world.
Charism
OYA is a youth group developed from the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, whose Charism is based on their founder, St Eugene de Mazenod. Like any family, OYA recognises that it is important to know it's traditions.
