Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C
Today’s gospel passage depicts an attempt by the Sadducees to ridicule belief in an afterlife by questioning Jesus and attempting to catch him out and either force him to admit a flaw in the concept of heaven or deny the law. But Jesus makes clear that the resurrected life is not merely an extension of the earthly life. Through death and resurrection, life is changed; not ended.
