2nd Sunday in Advent - Year C

This week we are called to change. The gospel sets the stage for the ministry for John the Baptist. John is a bridge between the Prophets of the Hebrew Scriptures and the coming of Jesus. This reading gives us a sense of history by naming the political leaders of the day, and it points to the dramatic change that will occur in the world with the coming of Christ. In order to prepare for his coming, we are called to simply recognise our sins, repent, and be forgiven.
