SJV Youth in 2024!

SJV Youth is turning 24 in 2024, and as we move into a new year, SJV Youth is shifting into a new era!

What will we look like in 2024?

Our main sessions at SJV Youth will be our monthly Youth Masses and our Monday night sessions during the school term.

Youth Mass will continue to be on the first Sunday of the month at the 5:30 PM Mass and will be followed by a monthly combined event for Juniors (Year 7 - 9) and Young Adults Connect (Year 10 - 12 + 18 to 30 year olds).

Our Monday night sessions will run during the school term and will be for Young Adults Connect ONLY (Year 10 to 12 students + 18 to 30 year olds). These will occur from 7 PM to 8:30 PM in the Parish Hall/Meeting Room.

Leadership Structure Changes

With Tishan Lokuge stepping down as co-ordinator at the end of 2023, SJV Youth will continue to be led by the SJV Youth Co-ordination Team - this is a group of existing and new leaders who will work together to ensure all the background work that goes into running SJV Youth is happening!

Anyone can be a part of this team - all you need to do is commit to the following:

Hold a valid Volunteer WWCC or VIT registration
Commit to attending weekly SJV Youth sessions as frequently as possible
Attend all monthly Youth Masses and adjacent events
Lead a portfolio within the Co-ordination Team.
Attend all Oblate Youth Australia national events throughout the year.

Existing members of the Co-ordination Team are: Kevin Nguyen, Roshali Lokuge, Clarisse Campos, Marushka Vas, Adele Pinto, Eden Platcher and Steph Paul. We are also excited to welcome to the team: Grace Carney and Denise Munanja.

Our weekly sessions will be led by members of the Co-ordination Team, as well as any interested young adult who would like to be a part of the Term Roster to run sessions as a Session Leader. Sessions can either be Gospel focussed, or can be a workshop or talk on a particular topic of interest!
