National Oblate Youth Encounter
The National Oblate Youth Encounter is an event that brings together young people from around Australia who wish to share their Catholic faith in tandem with the Charism of St Eugene De Mazenod. NOYE will be a great chance for new friendships to be formed and for old friends to catch up. It is a great opportunity to grow in faith and reflect, as well as share plenty of fun with other young people. NOYE provides a balance of prayer, workshops, open-forums, liturgy, games and free time to enjoy the recreational activities on offer at the campsite.
The National Oblate Youth Encounter first began in 2000, known back then as "Youth Coming Together", 12 young people from Victoria travelled with Fr. Christian Fini to Dromana, Victoria. In 2001 the camp was held in New South Wales, with 26 participants from both Victoria and New South Wales. It was the success of this camp that saw the addition the South Australians in 2002. Our largest camp in 2007 had 120 participants from New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and two Oblates from the U.S!
During each Encounter, daily summaries of the events and photos are posted online. This means that we have an entertaining and accurate account of each day on Encounter and allows us the share our experiences and journey with those who support our community or who are unable to attend.
