The Oblates responded to the pressing need for Catholic education in
the 1950s and were invited to dioceses for the specific purpose of
education.
There are now 3 Oblate boys' colleges in Australia, with Iona in
Queensland, and a Mazenod College in both Victoria and Western
Australia.
